Yesterdays two selections both ran well with Imphal winning easily at bath at 11/10. While Hadley was backed in from 14/1 all the way to 9/4 co favourite but could only manage 3rd, but ran very well given the weights as expected.

Just one tentative bet for Wednesday as it stands, with what turned out to be a fairly lengthy summary of the opener at Lingfield.

14:30 Lingfield - FASHION THEORY 4/1

1 Point win

The opener here at Lingfield looks like it should be won by one of those with experience, bearing in mind the three debutants either come from yards not necessarily associated with first time winners or breeding suggests they'll be better in time. Dukinta has not shown much in two starts and went off 50/1 last time so I'm happy to put a line through her. Lady Valdean has looked a tough battling filly in her starts to date, and has finished placed in all of her last three starts, two of which were in France. The booking of SDS looks to be a good pairing and it looks like Lady Valdean will run well. So Sleek also looks a consistent type, having placed in 4 of her 5 starts with the only exception being her debut when well beaten in a race won by and eventual group performer. However it is Charlie Appleby's charge Fashion Theory who I like here. This filly by Dubai has only had three starts to date, two as a 2 year old, and then her seasonal debut at Sandown in April. She has an official rating of 76, 1lb lower than So Sleek who beat her by 2 1/2 lengths on her reappearance, but what catches my eye is the application of cheek pieces. The trainer has a good record when putting a pair of these on first time and I'm hoping this will help Fashion Theory to take the step forward her unexposed profile suggests she's open to. The main dangers are likely to be the two fillies by Nathaniel, Tarte Tropezienne and Nathalie probably in that order, as it is likely they will both take a further step forward. The former particularly as she missed the break at Goodwood and stayed on strongly in the closing stages of the race, suggesting the step up in trip will suit.

14:05 Catterick - REFLECT ALEXANDER 11/10

2 Points Win

This selection is a bit more simple in its explanation, hence the short price. Reflect Alexander sets a pretty decent standard here, having run well in listed company when 4th behind Richard Fahey's promising looking Dance Diva two starts back. She then progressed further last time out when losing by a head in a close finish at this course over 6F, she seemed to fade in the closing stages then so this drop back to 5F looks like it should suit. Her four starts to date have earned her an official rating of 81 so it would take a pretty decent performance to prevent her getting her first win on the board, especially given here's no reason to suggest she's finished improving yet. Rema Al Kuwait showed her inexperience on her debut and will improve for that run so could be involved. Richard Fahey sent out the winner of this race last year so Sandie Gem has to be respected, however last years winner Queen Kindly had already had two starts and went off at 1/16. What Do You Think ran well from a wide draw at Pontefract on her debut and will improve for that run for Michael Dods. I think even if Reflect Alexander can replicate her form of her third last time, that should be enough to take this, with improvement not out of the question hopefully she'll take some stopping.
