Wednesday 20th September 2017
A brilliant day for the blog on Tuesday, with both selections doing the business. Meaning the last three bets have all won at odds of 9/1, 10/1 and 7/2. Hoping to keep the ball rolling with two bets for Wednesday's action.
As well as the bets posted below, I'm interested to see how First Eleven gets on in the 14:00 at Sandown. I'm not very good with my two year old knowledge, but his pedigree jumps off the page being a half brother to the fantastic Kingsman and sired by Frankel. I won't be having a bet on him but I will be watching with interest.
15:25 Beverley - MEDALLA DE ORO 3/1
1 Point Win
I can't have the difference in price between the top two in the betting here, I feel Medalla De Oro is overpriced. The favourite as I write this is Bolder Bob, who won well on soft ground last at Leicester last month but he is upped in class and racing off a 8lb higher mark here. Medalla De Or, on the other hand, comes into this contest 2lb well in after finishing a good second at Leicester to Maori Bob, who was completing a hat trick that day. He has improved leaps and bounds since being gelded, winning nicely twice prior to his recent second place finish. The main concern is that he may face competition for the lead from another recent winner who is upped in class, Overhaugh Street.
15:50 Yarmouth - VINTAGE FOLLY 7/1
1 Point Win
This looks a cracking race and there are a few in with a chance, but I'm hoping that Vintage Folly can bounce back to form. She disappointed massively last time out in France, but Hugo Palmer has since said she was found to be heavily in season which may help to explain the poor performance, as well as the possibility she may want a bit more cut underfoot. Prior to that she finished second behind Shutter Speed in the Musidora on her seasonal reappearance, a performance that makes her the joint top rated in this field and, thanks to a 5lb weight for age allowance, she will be getting weight from half the field (including Irish raider, Beautiful Morning, who shares a rating of 102). Given that she is by Makfi, it is hoped the return to a softer surface will help this promising young filly to bounce back to the form of her Musidora run or even improve on it.
