19:00 Dundalk - RED AVENGER 11/1
1 Point Win
Red Avenger has patchy form to say the least but his run last time out over course and distance was very eye catching. He met traffic problems in the straight but stayed on like a train in the closing stages and probably would have won in a few more strides. It would be no surprise to see him turn the tables with both Secret Wizard and Tonkinese and the double figure odds look too good to turn down
19:15 Newcastle - PRYING PANDORA 11/1
0.5 Points Each-Way
Prying Pandora's recent form figures aren't anything to write home about but it is possible the return to a synthetic surface could help him to bounce back here. He is 1-2 on the all-weather, with both starts coming here at Newcastle, with the win coming in a higher grade than todays. Recent turf form has seen Richard Fahey's charge slip back down to a mark just 2lb higher than the win over course and distance. Although the second from that race, Alexadrakollontai, reopposes on 2lb better terms, Prying Pandora was a convincing winner that day and if he can replicate that run he may prove hard to beat.

21:15 Newcastle - POPPY IN THE WIND 66/1
0.5 Points Each-Way
This is one we backed last time and while she didn't hit the frame, she ran well enough and now dropped a further 2lb by the assessor, she may be able to capitalise. She won a class 4 handicap over 5f here at the beginning of the year off a mark of 71, so now down to a mark of 70 down into class 5 company she must have much more of a chance than odds of 66/1 suggest. One doubt could be the trip but she has proven effective over 6f, albeit without getting her head in front. If she is to get back to form it will likely be at this venue and she looks worth each-way support today. Another at a big price who looks interesting is Lucky Lodge for Antony Brittain and Cam Hardie, who have done this blog a couple of favours in the last couple of weeks, as softer ground may have been a valid excuse last time out.
