14:45 Lingfield - GORGEOUS 25/1

1 Point Each-Way

Gorgeous has been unlucky on her last couple of starts and his second place finish here back in November was a massively eyecatching run. She was squeezed out at the start and forced to race in the rear and if you paused the race turning for home and told someone she would finish second not many would believe you. Tony Carroll's mare did the best of those held up in a race where prominent racers were favoured, she rattled home late on and suggested this 6f trip could be ideal. Her next run was disappointing but she was never really travelling in a race which wasn't run to suit and it looks worth putting a line through that. Last time out, over this 6f trip at Kempton she ran a much better race than her ninth place finish suggests, drawn widest and denied a clear run turning for home, she still made some late headway and wasn't beaten all that far. From a better draw and off a 3lb lower mark, on just her ninth career start, she should be a lot closer today. Krazy Paving looks one of the obvious dangers on his first start for Olly Murphy, especially given his recent win has been franked by the second since.

17:45 Wolverhampton - SNOW EXCUSE 7/1

0.5 Points Each-Way

As I always say, this is an apprentice handicap so not one for maximum stakes, but Snow Excuse looks worth a few quid each-way. He ran well over this course and distance back in December when finishing second off this mark beaten half a length. More recently, he was very unlucky when finishing fourth behind Good Business, who has bolted up again since. Snow Excuse was boxed in against the rail when attempting to mount a challenge but couldn't find enough space and looked to finish with a bit still in the tank. With a clearer run he should prove tough to keep out of the places and it wouldn't be a shock if he got his head in front.

18:15 Wolverhampton - ROCK'N GOLD 14/1

0.75 Points Each-Way

Rock'n Gold has tumbled down the weights in recent months and finally showed the benefit on his penultimate start when denied by only a head at Lingfield. There were a few subsequent winners in behind on that occasion and if he can run to that kind form again he will have a good chance in this. He had excuses when disappointing last time, slowly away before travelling nicely into the contest two furlongs out, he paid the price for his slow start and weakened in the closing stages. He is a bit of a quirky sort so his tendency to miss the break is a concern and he is not guaranteed to stay this trip, but at odds of 14/1 he looks worth the risk here.
