As you will be able to tell from some of my selections from today, it is the time of year where it is worth keeping three year olds on side in handicaps, as they catch up with their elders physically and often make good use of their weight for age allowances.

Despite his finishing position of seventeenth, Mukalal ran a very eye-catching race in the Royal Hunt Cup last time out and there is a chance he could prove too good for his rivals today. Marcus Tregoning's gelding ran very freely in the early stages of the race, before making smooth headway a couple of furlongs out, in the closing stages of the race his earlier exertions took their toll and he weakened into midfield. That run came off the back of a 257 day absence and, with this being his second run after a wind operation, there is every reason to expect he will improve for that run. In comparison to his rivals he is relatively unexposed and although on the face of it his draw in stall 4 may not be ideal, he looks like he is drawn close enough likely front runner Love Dreams to get a good bit of cover in the race. I will also be having a saver on Muntadab at a bigger price. On the face of it he looks up against it here off a career high mark but he has been running very well in defeat of late, notably when third behind subsequent group 3 winner Above The Rest (with Spanish City over a length behind in fourth). His stable is in cracking form at present and with firms offering up to six places each-way, he looks a good bet against the market principles.

Mukalal 15/2 - 1.5 Points Each-Way

Muntadab 22/1 - 0.5 Points Each-Way

Muthmir looked a shade unlucky when beaten just a neck by Judicial last weekend but has to carry a 3lb penalty today for an earlier listed success which could leave him vulnerable. Stone Of Destiny ran a belter at Royal Ascot in the Commonwealth Cup to defy his 50/1 odds and finish fourth. That run was a personal best and this will be just his sixth start to date so there's every chance he could improve again. The drop back to 5f is a minor concern but there looks to be plenty of pace in the line up with Alpha Delphini, A Momentofmadness, El Astronaute, Take Cover and Abel Handy preferring to make the running in their races which should ensure it is run a strong enough gallop to suit. Andrew Balding has been firing in the winners of late and I think Stone Of Destiny could take advantage of his 5lb weight for age allowance and add another to add to the list.

Stone Of Destiny 9/2 - 1 Point Win

Blue Point is quite aptly a sea of blue on Oddschecker as I write this and it's not hard to see why. He could be called the winner of the Kings Stand some way from home and if he can post a performance of that quality over this extra furlong its unlikely any of these will beat him. The extra yardage must be of some concern though and I'm willing to take something each-way against the favourite. Sands Of Mali ran an absolute belter when second behind Eqtidaar in the Commonwealth Cup and I think this course could play more to the strengths of Richard Fahey's charge, enough to see that form turned on it's head. He has shown a really likeable attitude and was closing all the way to the line at Ascot, with his 6lb weight for age allowance he comes out top on the figures here and looks a good each-way angle into the race, especially with a couple of firms offering a fourth place each-way.

Sands Of Mali 9/1 - 1 Point Each-Way

Despite disappointing at Royal Ascot last time I fancy the sole three year old in the line up to beat his elders here in the shape of Wadilsafa. The Frankel colt was impressive when landing novice event on the Rowley Mile prior to his Ascot flop and he looks the type to progress further. He didn't get enough cover to do himself justice last time but this drop back to a mile and drop in grade should see him return to winning ways today with his 9lb weight for age allowance a big positive.

Wadilsafa 11/4 - 2 Points Win
