After an excellent week of racing at Ascot it is back to the grind of Class 6 handicaps for the blog this Monday. But a winner is a winner no matter what the level of racing so hopefully we can have a profitable start to the week.
16:30 Chepstow
Jungle Juice is likely to prove popular here given she escapes a penalty for what was a pretty convincing win at Salisbury last time out, but this larger field may prove more difficult to dominate from the front and I'm willing to pass on her at odds of around 7/2 at the time of writing. Hey Ho Let's Go is easily the least exposed in the field and the drop back to 6f looks a sensible move given how hard he pulled over 7f at Leicester last time out. He certainly can't be ruled out but there isn't much juice in his price.
It wouldn't be huge shock to see Fantasy Justifier involved in the finish here, he's won over course and distance twice before and has been running well recently. But he isn't the most reliable sort so in terms of a bet on the race I will be looking elsewhere.
One that does look bigger to me than they should be in the market is the oldest horse in the race, Kinglami. John O'Shea's old boy hasn't been performing to the same level as last year in his two starts this campaign but he is now starting to look well treated as a result. I'm also willing to excuse those two runs anyway, the first was off the back of a 217 day absence from the track and his latest start came over an inadequate five furlongs.
He drops down to Class 6 company here and the cheekpieces which were present for both his course and distance wins last year are back on. It's also a positive seeing Rossa Ryan in the saddle given he was on board for both those wins last year, one of which came off a mark of 71 so racing off 63 today he looks to have a good chance. With some firms offering 12/1 and 5 places I will have to have a few quid on each-way.
Kinglami 12/1 - 1 Point Each-Way
