Anyone who has read this blog before will know it is very rare that I ever back one at a short price but I am very surprised that a John Golden filly has opened up 15/8 here. Fanny Logan is a good way clear of her rivals on official ratings here and with the 8lb weight for age allowance also in her favour it is difficult to see her getting beat if she runs to form.
The daughter of Sea The Stars took a nice step forward when landing a listed contest at York, the combination of a return to better ground and a drop in trip certainly seemed to suit as she ran out a comfortable winner. She accounted for some higher rated rivals than she is facing today when winning last time and is unexposed over this trip on better ground so further improvement is not out of the question either.
Henry Candy has won 3 of the last 5 renewals of this race so has to be respected. The pick of his runners is probably Queen Of Time but she is rated 9lb inferior to the selection and is conceding 8lb in allowances.

One from the tracker here in the shape of Impressor for Marcus Tregoning, who won this contest in 2017. This well bred son of Footstepsinthesand caught the eye in a very useful looking maiden at Glorious Goodwood. Despite the SP of 20/1 suggesting he wasn't fancied, he was actually well supported on the day as he was available at much bigger prices in the morning. Each-Way backers would've been kicking their cats all over the shop in the closing stages of the race as traffic problems saw him finish a never nearer fourth of ten.
After a tardy start he recovered well to track the leaders and travelled well into the race until a couple of furlongs out where he got into a proper barging match, Martin Dwyer's mount did well to regain his balance and eventually keep on well in the closing stages to chase the leaders. The winner looks a pretty useful sort and the second advertised the form well when winning comfortably this week, the selection has some pretty fancy entries himself and is clearly thought to be pretty useful. He sets a pretty useful standard for the others to aim at here and I'm surprised he isn't outright favourite at the time of writing.
Impressor 100/30 - 1 Point Win

This is a selection which is very much relying on the accuracy of the weather forecast which can be a risky thing to do, hence the smaller stake. Having said that I have been waiting to see Spirit Of Lund step up in trip for a while now and if the showers do hold off as forecasted he could have a good chance off a mark of 71.
I still have my notes from when he made his racecourse debut this time last year which read: 'Missed the break badly and outpaced early, made encouraging late headway and could be one for middle distances in the future'. He has shown some signs of encouragement this year over shorter trips shaping as though this step up in trip may be whats needed to see him get his head in front, tackling 1m2f for the first time I'll be having a small each-way bet.
Spirit Of Lund 6/1 - 0.5 Points Each-Way
