Monday 23rd September 2019
An unusually busy Monday for the blog this week, yet to get the ball properly rolling in what has been a quiet month. We've had a few place at nice prices but hopefully we can get a couple on the board before the end of September.

Kamikaze Lord looked very unlucky over course and distance last time out and is very unexposed, but it was fairly easy to see how luckless his passage was and the market has certainly taken note, he looks plenty short enough in the betting. Al Moataz is going the right way too and has sound claims, his first two starts came over mile and he was doing his best work at the end last time so it’s surprising to see him at 7f again today. He may be good enough to take this anyway, but there looks value each-way elsewhere.
Uncle Jerry is very consistent on the all-weather and I think he's a better horse on an artificial surface. The BHA clearly disagree with me as his official rating on turf is the same as his AW mark, but 9 of 10 best RPR's have come on an artificial surface and so have his only two career wins. Additionally, five of his last six starts have come on turf and his mark has fallen as a result, with his best run on turf coming at ascot last time out, a surface on which all-weather form translates well to.
The son of Kyllachy ran well in that Ascot contest, despite the fact he looked to be bumped slightly just before the furlong pole. Prior to that had run a very good race at Chelmsford on the all-weather when forced to race wide throughout. He drops to class 5 company here for the first time since November 2018 where he was beaten less than a length off a mark of 77, so back down in class off 74 today he looks a cracking each-way bet at 25/1 with firms offering 4 places each-way.

This sprint has a fairly open look to it and in the hope the dead eight runners all stand their ground, I'm going to recommend a small each-way bet on Secretinthepark. He has been showing he still retains a good chunk of the ability which saw him once achieve an official rating of 95. He's now racing off a mark of 76 which he went close off at Newmarket at the end of August, when only beaten a neck.
He has been running well on the whole this season and the form of his York win in July worked out well with the second, fourth and sixth placed horses all winning subsequently. His couple of recent efforts are disappointing on paper but he fluffed the start on both occasions. Missing the break has been a habit of his over his entire career which tempers enthusiasm slightly so I'll only be having a small each way bet here.
Secretinthepark 16/1 - 0.5 Points Each-Way

Polyphony has been contesting better races than this of late and John Mackie looks to have found a weak looking contest to get her third career win. There are question marks over many of her rivals and, while the Sir Michael Stoute trained handicap debutant Nantucket will likely prove popular with Moore on board, I'd rather side with the filly who already has the form in the book.
Polyphony ran well at Haydock last time out when finishing fourth in a competitive contest. The third from that race, Brother McGonagall, won a class 4 contest on his next start from an unchanged mark. The selection has been dropped 1lb for the Haydock run and drops to class 5 company here. It would be disappointing if she's not up to winning a race of this nature.
Polyphony 7/2 - 1 Point Win
