Tuesday 17th September 2019

It's been a quiet time on here of late, I've had a lot going on and haven't had the time to study but I'm back and keen to pick up where we left off with another profitable month. Just two small stakes selections for Tuesday's action with write ups below

15:40 Yarmouth

This is very much a low grade affair and you wouldn't catch me backing horses rated 47 very often, but I am recommending a small each-way bet on Percy Toplis here with William Hill offering 5 places.

In all his 48 career starts thus far he is yet to run over a trip as long as this, but his most recent three starts all suggest it may just be what he needs to get his head in front again. Three starts back at Chelmsford he was only beaten half a length over 1m2f, he was doing his best work at the end that day and the winner has advertised the form well since, bolting up off a higher mark on his next start. Christine Dunnett's charge has been noted staying on late in two handicaps here at Yarmouth recently and this field looks to have enough pace

Percy Toplis 10/1 - 0.5 Points Each-Way

16:00 Redcar

This race has been won by a three year old for the last three years on the trot and theres an argument to be made for Defence Treaty making it four. Richard Fahey's charge looks to have been crying out for this step up to a mile and being the sole 3 year old in this years renewal, he can make his 4lb weight for age allowance count.

He wasn't beaten far at Musselburgh last time and prior to that he shaped as though he'd appreciate this mile trip here at Redcar, losing his place and hanging but staying on well under pressure in the closing stages to finish 4th in a class 3 contest. Back down in a class 4 handicap today he looks worth an each-way play to me.

Defence Treaty 9/1 - 0.5 Points Each-Way
